Avalon Computer Pals helps over 55s learn and improve their technology skills on smartphones, tablets and computers. It is a not for profit organisation run by volunteers. Since 2000, we have helped hundreds of seniors from complete beginners to people who need to improve or update their skills. Currently there are about 25 active trainers.
At our Avalon training room we offer one-to-one personal tuition at Avalon, on whatever subjects our students ask for.
At Newport Community Centre, we run small group courses of 6 to 10 people. These cover a range of subjects to assist beginners or those who need to keep up with the new technologies. They include popular topics such as: Beginners introduction to iPads, Social media, Digital Photography, Android Tablets, Smart phones, Genealogy, Scanning slides and photos to digital and more.
Also at Newport we often have a free public presentations at the beginning of each term, generally about an interesting topic, and providing a 'taster' of our courses. Our lectures and presentations are on a very diverse range of subjects that all have technology in common.
Both our training sites have ample parking and easy access to public transport, as well as level access to the venues.
