Bankstown Computer Pals for Seniors
Computer Pals for Seniors Bankstown was formed in July 1999 and originally met at Georges Hall. At that stage the club only had a few old donated computers and a few dedicated trainers. Currently we have a dedicated room in Bankstown Senior Citizens Centre at 7 West Terrace Bankstown. We are equipped with 7 new computers (all connected to the Internet through a network); a laptop; printers; copying machine and scanner are also available. One computer has windows 8.1. Our aim is to teach computer skills to Senior Citizens in the Bankstown area so that they can explore the advantages; satisfaction and fun of using information technology. We are a member of Australian Seniors Computer Clubs Association (ASCCA).
We have many skilled trainers and some assistant trainers and offer one on one training on Word; Excel; Access; Publisher; PowerPoint; Photoshop; Music; email; Facebook and Twitter. Plus we also assist with Mobile Phones, and now have trainers versed in Apple iPads and Tablets. Wi-Fi is available for those students bringing their own laptops. We have 170 plus financial members and operate Tuesday to Thursday during School Terms. Over the 9 periods available each week many of these members are being taught different skills at various levels. All trainers and committee members are volunteers who give their time unstintingly. There is ample parking available in a Council Car Park immediately behind the building.
