Mother’s Day, Membership and Movies!
Membership of ASCCA – great news !
You will recall that due to the major implications that Covid 19 had on our Clubs and their members, ASCCA’s Board of Directors waived membership fees for the first year of the pandemic, and then re-introduced fees for the current year, at a very minimal rate. However, the rate was still based on numbers of members.
For the forthcoming financial year ASCCA has made a major decision, in conjunction with a new simplified format of its online Membership form, to also streamline the membership fees.
You will be pleased to learn that the fees as from 1st July will be –
* Clubs with less than 50 members – free
* Clubs with more than 50 members – $52 per annum (this equates to only $1 per week!)
We are working on a more simplified online renewal form for members to complete, which helps to reduce the work load for both your club administrators and ours – there’s no need to print, complete, scan and email or post back to us, just open it up and tell us which type of membership you’re renewing – or if it’s a completely new membership application and then click submit at the end! This also makes it so much easier for our team, as it adds your data in to an excel sheet that we can then use without having to have someone else enter your answers again!
This new fee structure is further demonstration of ASCCA’s commitment to support its Clubs and their members.
We are actively working on new and diverse initiatives to spread the support of ASCCA’s goals and aims to seniors everywhere. We’ll be bringing you further news of the details very soon!
I was recently contacted by Victorian TV presenter, Carol O’Halloran to speak to her about ASCCA. An opportunity that I jumped at! Keep an eye out for the shows – yes, I spoke that much that she had enough to make a number of articles instead of just one! The first goes to air on her YouTube channel (Over 50 So What!) from the 18th May, and will be screened on Victoria’s Channel 44 (C31) from the 22nd.
Her show screens on the following days/times;
Vic Channel 44 (C31) – 9.30am Wed , Sat 11.30am Tues 3.30pm
SA Channel 44 – 5.30am Wed, 6pm Fri, 9am Sat
Keep an eye on our Facebook page for the links once they are published online!
Happy Mother’s Day
To all our Mothers, Grandmothers and Great Grandmothers.
We salute you all!
The modern Mother’s Day began in the United States, at the initiative of Anna Jarvis in the early 20th century. It is now directly related to the many traditional celebrations of mothers and motherhood that have existed throughout the world over thousands of years, such as the Greek cult to Cybele, the mother god Rhea, the Roman festival of Hilaria, or the Christian Laetare Sunday celebration (associated with the image of Mother Church). However, in some countries, Mother’s Day is still synonymous with these older traditions.
The American version of Mother’s Day has been criticized for having become too commercialized. Founder Jarvis herself regretted this commercialism and expressed that this was never her intention.
