From the President’s Desk

The image is a portrait of Jennifer Willcox, ASCCA President, a smiling senior woman with short grey hair. She's wearing glasses, hoop earrings, and a black V-neck top. A gold necklace with a circular pendant sits at her collarbone. The background is plain white, highlighting her as the main subject. Her cheerful expression conveys warmth and approachability.

March 2024 eNews

In this March edition of our eNews, we’re thrilled to share some exciting updates and developments from our community.

Good morning,

Firstly, we’d like to extend a warm welcome to our new Grants Officer, Anushka, an Intern from the University of Western Australia, made possible by the support of the McCusker Foundation. This new role is a significant addition to our team, as the Grants Officer will collaborate closely with the Board to identify, research, and apply for grant funding opportunities that align with and further ASCCA’s goals and objectives. This strategic initiative aims to enhance our capacity to support our member clubs and the broader community.

Thank you so much to Alex Zaharov-Reutt who we were most happy to welcome back as a Guest presenter at last month’s Clubs Forum where he imparted some very exciting discoveries that he made when attending the CES Technology Expo in Las Vegas in January.  We’re sure to see much more of Alex when he showcases all the interesting discoveries in the Tech World.

To the right, a gallery view shows six participants in smaller video feeds, who are listening attentively.

Natika has recently visited our Network Partners in the Indian Ocean Territories to bolster our delivery of the Be Connected program. This trip was a fantastic opportunity to engage with their communities, share knowledge, and gather valuable insights that will benefit our ongoing efforts to connect and support our members in embracing digital technologies, read more about her visit in this month’s edition.

Furthermore, we always appreciate hearing from our member clubs and are grateful once again to Brisbane Seniors Online (BSOL) for sharing their latest news with us.   In addition, their latest Newsletter features an impressive collection of photography from members, showcasing their creativity and skills. You can view their newsletter here.

We’re also in the process of developing a dedicated Clubs page within our website to host links to electronic newsletters from our member clubs. This initiative aims to create a central hub where everyone can access a wealth of information, stories, and insights from clubs across the network. We encourage all member clubs to share the links to their online eNews repository page (not individual Newsletters) by sending them to

In addition to these exciting developments, I have been working closely with ASCCA’s Treasurer, Dallas, to ensure that our records are up to date and accurate. In the short term we will reach out to our member clubs with requests to update club details. This is a crucial step in maintaining effective communication and support across our network.

Your contributions and engagement are invaluable to our community, and we look forward to sharing and celebrating more of your stories and achievements in the future.

On a final note, we’d like to say a fond farewell to ACCAN’s Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Williams, who is leaving ACCAN on 1st March.  Thank you, Andrew, for your support and representation in the Australian communications arena.  All the best for the future from our Team.

Thank you to everyone else for your continued support and collaboration with ASCCA.

Warm regards,
