Be Connected funding secured

ASCCA SWADE Project Be Connected Capacity Builder
Get Online Week 17-23 October 2022

In exciting news, we have again been successful in applying for two more grants! We are excited to announce that we will be again holding virtual Get Online Week events – which will be aimed at clubs and other organisations to encourage them to reach out to their members or their wider community to ‘Try one thing’ – which is this years’ GoW Theme.

We have also been successful in our application to again be Capacity Builders for Be Connected. This is the eighth round since Be Connected’s inception in 2018 – and will be ASCCA’S eighth capacity building project.

This time, we are working with the Australian Museums & Galleries Association (AMaGA) in both WA and the NT.  Many of their member organisations in regional communities rely heavily on older volunteers, and often the lack of digital skills or confidence is a barrier for people to get involved in their local museums or galleries.

Group of digital mentors in Perth

We are excited to be going back to predominantly face to face delivery of the Digital Mentor training with follow up support via Zoom. Tik will be offering training in Perth, Darwin, Geraldton, Bunbury and other communities WA’s Great Southern, Pilbara and Kimberley and possibly in the Territory’s Alice Springs.

Group of Digital Mentors in Darwin

Whilst this project has a focus on our partners members, it doesn’t mean our own members will be left out! If you have new volunteers or staff who would like to access this round of Be Connected Digital Mentor training or if your club is exploring funding options or just wants information or support for Be Connected projects, Natika can offer you her insights and support throughout this project.

We are in the early stages of planning our first two face to face, free, Be Connected Digital Mentor training dates.  They are; Perth on Thursday the 22nd September and Darwin on Wednesday the 26th October.

Further details will be added to our events calendar once they are confirmed, so if you have potential mentors near Perth or Darwin who would like to participate, please let Natika know via email.

If your Club is thinking about Be Connected but has more questions, you can book into one of our half hour group info sessions using this link.  These are open at various dates and times throughout the next few months.

Network Partner Meet up in Perth …

AS the world slowly gets back to normal, the Good Things Foundation team are in the process of arranging some face to face Network Partner Meet Ups – they held their Sydney one in June, and have Perth and Melbourne sessions scheduled for September and October. Natika will be attending the Perth session, and then holding the first face to face Digital Mentor Training session under round 8 in Perth the following day. If you are in Perth or Melbourne and are a Be Connected Network Partner, you can find more information on registering to attend on the Be Connected Network Partner site.
