We provide computer training for 'over 50' seniors in the Muswellbrook area of the Upper Hunter Valley. Low cost weekly training sessions are held in our friendly internet connected training room on whatever you want to learn. To discuss and book training please ring our Co-ordinator Dorothy on 6542 5260. We also hold monthly meetings and presentations on computer related items of interest to seniors. The club owns a modern LCD projector and any member is encouraged to put together a presentation; thus sharing their knowledge and getting some practice with the computer; projector and presentation skills. We've been operating since 2007 and are auspiced by the Muswellbrook Senior Citizens Association. The Club is open to all seniors aged 50 plus and requires them to be a member of both the Muswellbrook Senior Citizens and the Seniors Computer Club. As at March 09 we have over 80 members. Costs are kept low - computer club membership is $5 per year and the regular training is $2 per 2 hour session. Membership of the Seniors Citizens Association is $6 to join and $3 each subsequent year. Value for dollar has never been better!! Our training room has six modern computers, two laser printers, flatbed and slide scanners and an internet connection all operating on a network. We encourage those who own laptops to bring them down and learn on them as they are easily connected to the internet at the training room. Training is conducted in three two hour blocks every week on a Tuesday and Wednesday and we extend this to Thursday when required. Training is generally aimed at helping members solve whatever issues they want. Issues can be any mix of basic training; photos; work processing; internet; family tree; slide scanning etc. It certainly keeps our member tutors well and truly on their toes. It's a poor day when a tutor doesn't learn something new in the process. We have found that this ad-hoc training together with a mixture of training from the excellent ASCCA manuals; seems to suit our seniors best. We have been very fortunate with donations of computers and equipment from local businesses and government entities.
