The philosophy behind our club is that we are a computer club and not a computer school. We are there to help each other learn at our own pace and with what people want to learn. We are seniors teaching seniors. We are volunteer teachers and a non profit organisation.
After being in existence for 15years we still have between 40 – 50 members at any one time and our tutors fluctuate between 10 and 20. We now have 10 Computers and one to use for power point presentations in the auditorium plus a projector. The council gave us funding to set up the internet to network our computers. We have held an Open Day in Seniors Week for many years since being incorporated. We have held several full day Computer Seminars and hope to continue this practice.
Our courses at the moment include Tablets and iPads; Word (beginners and advanced); Internet and Email; Digital Photography; Genealogy; Maintenance of a computer. The Windows 10 operating system is being progressively loaded into the Club’s computers. Lessons are available in iPad; Samsung Galaxy 3 with Android; ASUS Tablet with Windows 8.1 and Office 2013. All subject to the availability of tutors.
